From Indonesia to Africa
The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

Hi! My name is Fiona. I come from Indonesia and I live in Bellevue, WA. Being a preschool teacher, I get to watch the joy and fascination my students show when they are flipping pages of books in our library. Do you still remember your favorite story that your parents read to you when you were little? Or the first book that you could read by yourself? I do. Those moments have changed my life. Having access to books enabled me to dream as a child, and opened doors to places in my life as an adult that I wouldn't have had otherwise. My hope is simply to give every child an opportunity to have that same wonderful world of imagination that I was given by a world of books.

We want to start a library in Africa because...
Books change lives. One community at a time. For now, God has put the children of Swaziland in my heart. I'm also learning from this experience, so that one day I can establish more children's libraries in my own country, Indonesia.
About our African Partners...
Children in The Kingdom of Swaziland (Umbuso weSwatini) are the ones who are going to receive the books we collect here in United States. A thousand books are enough to build a small children's library there.
