Books of Love
04/01/12 onward
04/01/12 to 12/10/12
Huntington WV
The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots
of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books
or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa.
It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)
This book drive is organized by ...
Sarahbeth Bailey and Mandy Tee here!! So glad you are visiting our Books of Love page! So you want to know who we are and why we are hosting a book drive for Africa? Well here you go....
We are both mothers of two and we wish to teach our kids actively about helping others. We look for ways to incorporate cultural diversity and educate our small children about the whole around us. African Library Project was a perfect fit for our desires!

We want to start a library in Africa because...
We chose to be a part of the ALP simply because we are blessed. Our children are very fortunate to be born into lives where books are many. Here in our homes our kids have books in shelves in their rooms, stacks of books on the living room table, books at school, books at family members...etc. As mothers, we want to teach our kids to be loving members of society. We want our children to understand that everywhere in the world isn't like Huntington, WV or America for that matter and they have the opportunity to spread blessings.
About our African Partners...
Books of Love will be delivered to Lesotho, Africa towards the end of this year. Lesotho is in South Africa. Our library will serve children from pre k- 4th grade.
Please contribute these kinds of books...
•For a primary school library: Books at U.S. pre-school to 4th grade reading level
Here's how you can contribute your books...
We started our project the beginning of April 2012 and it will be finished on December, 10th 2012. If you would like to donate books please call or email us. We will make arrangements once you contact one of us.
We need to raise funds for shipping the books...
We have done one bake sale and raised what funds we have recorded here. We plan on having more bake sales, book drive for a pizza party in the local school, an art day camp for children (admission will be money donations or books) and a car wash.
If you would like to mail a check to aid us in shipping our library please send it to:
