READY TO MAKE A POSITIVE CHANGE AND SUPPORT GLOBAL LITERACY? Join the ALP community where Global Literacy Champions are making a concerted effort to put illiteracy in the history books. We are a growing community of changemakers in North America and Africa who love books. Through the African Library Project, you can support and positively impact whole communities and young learners of rural and underserved areas of Sub-Saharan Africa.

donate books

Organize a book drive and make a lasting impact by giving the gift of books. Our approach matches book drives directly with the recipient to create a library, so you’ll know exactly who is benefiting from your book drives. This opportunity is available to anyone who lives in North America.

support activities

Becoming an ALP supporter through a monetary donation is a wonderful way to show your love for literacy. ALP offers several modes for giving including one-time or recurring online donations, employer matching, corporate sponsorship, legacy planning, donor advised funds (DAFs), stocks, giving in someone’s honor, or peer-by-peer fundraising.

volunteer your time, enthusiasm, skill, and knowledge

ALP is a growing organization that relies on volunteers to help operate its book drive and library program. These operative roles, managing containers and liaising with in-country Partners, are imperative to our success, and a fantastic opportunity for those looking for a longstanding impactful role.

2022 Virtual sessions

Due to COVID-19 policies and enforced travel restrictions, the 2022 Summit was held virtually as two mini sessions. This allowed us to invite everyone who supports our work to join. Although the virtual sessions do not come close to replacing the power of an actual in-person gathering, they did allow for our community to hear from our Malawi and Kenyan Partners to present about their country and best practices for their work. There was also time for an open dialogue for the entire community.

The first session was hosted by the Malawi Partners in April 2022 (watch recording on YouTube) and the second session was hosted by the Kenyan Partners in November 2022 (watch recording on YouTube).
